Essential World Cup analysis at your fingertips

I have a favorite line from one of the best things to crawl across my 42-inch LCD screen this year. It came from Generation Kill, HBO’s excellent look at the young men and women laying it down for us in dangerous places.  It’s from U.S. Marine Lt. Nathan Fick, who gets up in the face of a brownnosing Gunnery Sgt. and tells him what’s what:

“I’m putting it down, Gunny. You picking it up?”

Well, my post today has one mission: to tell you that my man Richard Farley over at World Soccer Digest is puttin’ it down. Ya’ll pickin’ it up?

His ongoing series of World Cup group previews is essential reading for anyone who cares about events unfolding next summer in South Africa. Talk about thorough and pancake-stacked with facts. This is damn solid analysis he’s handing out. (I think Richard still believes SB Nation is paying him by the word. Shhhh! Don’t tell him otherwise.)

Today in his Group C analysis of the XXL variety, Farley picks the United States to … well … should I spoil it? Nah. You’ll have to see for yourself. But I bet you didn’t see this one coming.

If you don’t read these previews, don’t blame Richard next summer when your lame-o, ill informed “predictions” fall apart like a bad taco.
