Can Houston Win One for MLS?

pachucadynamo

Pachuca/Houston Dynamo - CONCACAF Champions League - Wed. Sep. 30th

The Houston Dynamo and Pachuca will meet again, and it's a great opportunity for the Dynamo and MLS to get a win versus a top Mexican team in meaningful competition.  The Dynamo are at home and playing on 8 days rest.  Can the Dynamo pull it off and get some respect for MLS?

MLSNet has put together a nice video of the teams' history against one another.

The two teams have matched up four times since 2007 for a total of 5 games. Only D.C. United has faced a Mexican team (Chivas) more times (plus 9 extra years).  Several games have been classics.  Should Wednesday's game be a classic, we might have a full blown rivalry on our hands.

Here’s the history breakdown:

03/15/07 - CONCACAF Champions Cup - Dynamo Win First Leg. Recap. Video

04/05/07 - CONCACAF Champions Cup - Pachuca wins in extra time. Recap. Video

08/14/07 -Superliga- Dynamo go down in PKs. Recap. Video

07/29/08 - Superliga - Dynamo win outright for the first time. Recap. Video

09/16/09 - CONCACAF Champions League. Video

The game will be on FSC and Galavision at 9PM Central.

loss to Pachuca

I was at the doubleheader in Dallas last night, so i didn’t see the Houston match. Curious to hear from someone who did. Was that a fair result? … Hated missing the match, as I always enjoy watching Pachuca play.

No DVR?

I was at the game and it was a great game. Very smooth, lots of possession and end-to-end play. The officiating was good; he even handed out 3 yellow cards for delay.

Dynamo probably had more possession and had more shots. Their finishing was dreadful and the Pachuca keeper had some good saves. If you watched the game and didnt see the score you probably would have thought the Dynamo won.

Pachuca didnt start Christian Gimenez, Damian Alvarez, Jaime Correa or Torres (Gimenez and Torres played though). Dynamo did not start their better options at LB and F in Chabala and Weaver.

1-1 would have been a more fair result.
