Will the visitors shout down the U.S. fans???

SANDY, Utah --Your intrepid journalist here failed to pack his digital camera. So I can't show you the festive scene outside Rio Tinto right now, one that has a suspiciously blue hue.

In other words, the Salvadoran fans are in the house.  And rocking.

They've got horns and flags, and they aren't afraid to use them, lining the streets outside Rio Tinto, the arresting Wasatch Mountains in the background.  The U.S. fans? Uh, yeah … I can only presume they are still checking out the Mormon Tabernacle, or coming in from an afternoon hike or bike in the nearby mountains.

I really had assumed that this would be a hugely pro-American crowd. And it may be yet. Foreign fans are great about arriving outrageously early to get their flag and fan on.

It's a small stadium. The Salvadoran fans are in blue. The Yankee supporter will be in red, so we'll know a lot more in an hour and a half. But know this: If U.S. officials can't create a home-field advantage in suburban Salt Lake City, Utah, they might as well give up.

Lineups soon ... here's how they'll line up

                                    Howard

 Spector       Bocanegra       Marshall      Bornstein

                         Bradley          Feilhaber

Dempsey                                                          Donovan

                   Davies                          Altidore

That's the lineup I'd hoped to see without Gooch or Demerit.

I like the Altidore/Davies pairing up front.

This might be the worst officiated game I've ever seen

I'm still not really clear on the explanation for disallowing the third goal

The ESPN recap says something about Jozy “nudging” a defender on his way through. Whatever it was, totally brutal call.

And, yeah, the officiating overall was pretty terrible.

Wow. Glad we pulled that one out, should’ve had 3 goals though.

Insanity is just a state of mind.

A win is a win even though is should have been 3-1

We are second with 13 points because Honduras has the edge in goal differential. The race is a lot closer now since Mexico is beating Costa Rica in their house 3-0 at the moment.

The Trinidad & Tobago match is a big on on Wednesday and I would love for us to steal away 3 points.

That would require the U.S. to actually play well on the road (I kid).
