Talking Donovan, Dempsey, injury, irony and swimsuits
I like to play nice around here, eschewing the sensational and the tabloid ways of trash-and-bash. But being a little naughty is fun, so …
Who can resist the delicious irony of this Landon Donovan-Ashley Cole situation? If you haven’t heard, the well-enshrined

Returning the favor
It may be completely illogical, but if I were Donovan I would keep my head on a bit of a swivel the next couple of weeks.
English Press
Already starting to hint that Donovan injured Cole intentionally.

No they're not.
No one thinks that at all over here, it’s just being seen as really unfortunate. I’ve never been a fan of Cole but this season he’s been on fire, recently scoring a goal Bergkamp would be proud of and playing like one of the best attacking fullbacks I’ve ever seen, seriously.
At the real risk of coming across sour-faced I’ve always felt a bit queasy when people celebrate someone getting injured, especially if it results in them missing something most mortals can only dream of being a part of.
Ah well, gloat on.

Big Soccer Forums and The Sun forums sure do think that.

aren’t “the English Press” though; they’re the home of “the English semi-literate”.
The Sun
also hinted at this conspiracy theory but I can’t find the article now

That's the stuff!
There we go, Donovan! An eye for an eye. Dempsey got hurt, then Cole, a player Dempsey would be pitted against, also got hurt. Keep up the good work, Landon.

Donovan Who?
Sorry, not to knock on Donovan, but Clint Dempsey’s wife is too hot to worry about anything else he just wrote about. That was possibly the best soccer post I have ever seen.
Anyways, I’m sure the Cole thing will just give England something to complain about later if we end up atop the round over them, or worse, if they don’t make it to round 2.
