MLS Players / Team of the Month

Cue the confetti! Galaxy marksman Edson Buddle gets the Daily Soccer Fix vote for MLS Player of the Month!

Something else to think about for those of you upset over seeing Jose-o Special-o arrive safely into the Champions League final. Grrrrr.

My votes for players of the month that go out on a wide variety to sites, polls and platforms – two of ‘em – go to the following: (Remember, as always, there is no cash prize involved.)

1. Edson Buddle, LA Galaxy

2. Joel Lindpere, Red Bull New York

3. Wilman Conde, Chicago Fire

Here is my MLS team of the Month:

Goalkeeper: Kansas City’s Jimmy Nielsen.

Defenders: Seattle’s Jhon Kennedy Hurtado, Chicago’s Wilman Conde, L.A.’s Omar Gonzalez.

Midfielders: Chicago’s Patrick Nyarko, Red Bull New York’s Joel Lindpere, Seattle’s Osvaldo Alonso, Toronto’s Dwayne De Rosario.

Forwards: L.A.’s Edson Buddle, Colorado’s Omar Cummings, Philadelphia’s Sebastien Le Toux.

I agree with your #1 and #3, Steve, but I think Dwayne De Rosario deserved to be #2. He did, after all, score 5 of TFC’s 6 goals (and got the assist on the other). Buddle has Donovan and a team of solid, smart, technical players behind him. De Rosario’s doing it all by himself in Toronto.

It’s good to see Conde getting recognition (and I say this as someone who thoroughly dislikes the Fire). I would gladly give up drinking good beer for a calendar year to get Conde in a United shirt. Good coffee, too.
