Crime! So says New York Post

Photo

PRETORIA, South Africa Oh, how I abhor this question: “When will soccer make it in the United States?”

It’s usually asked by the pretty and the handsome of TV land, goldie throats who don’t have enough depth about them (or just aren’t provided the time) to ask better questions. Seriously, what does that mean?

I know what they think it means. But what does it really mean? Nobody asks, “When will Thai food make it?” As if Thai won’t “make it” until it replaces Italian or Chinese in the cultural culinary pecking order.  When will Southwest Airlines “make it?” I mean, it isn’t as big as American or Delta, right?

Of course, Southwest is what it is. So is Thai food.

And so is soccer. It’s never going to “make it,” or “not make it.”

All that said, the next time someone asks me when soccer will “make it in our country,” I’m gonna have a laminated, wallet sized copy of today’s New York Post sports cover handy, ready to whip out and wave in their face. Because I’d say this is proof that soccer has “made it,” whatever that means.

People can say soccer finally made it

But the fact is that youth programs are finding amazing talent and European coaches are coming over. But this is the first time that people are paying attention to international soccer in the states on a large scale. Hopefully this spills over to MLS games post World Cup since future National Team members are currently in the MLS.

Despite the robbery of a absolutely crazy comeback

I hated Bradley in the 1st half with who he played and how the gameplan unfolded. ENough with the wait and see BS, we saw how we play when were aggressive and we need to stick to it. Torres didn’t do anything and Buddle didnt even play. We need to be aggressive and we will be fine but if we play soft again we may not even advance

When I get older, I will be stronger.

I was celebrating the bogus yellow on Findley

Findley’s got speed, yes. But he doesn’t know what to do with the opportunities he creates with his speed. With that second yellow of the group stage, Bradley has no choice but to start a competent striker instead.
