What We Learned from the USMNT

First off I'll start this by stating how torn to I am that this beautiful ride is over. Although our boys didn't win they left everything out there and I couldn't be any prouder of them than I am about how they fought......

Star-divide

Sure it wasn't always pretty, but it completely and totally symbolized what the United States of America is always about. Remember the people that came to this nation were the outsiders. The ones who were to lowly or poor and only needed a chance. These guys were outsiders to start the year. They ended there run national heroes if you ask me.

But with the end of one world cup and all the disappointment that comes with it the hope of the next begins. Sure you may never see some of the guys in that were in there prime this world cup play in a national team jersey again. I would doubt you'll see the heart and hustle that Demerit brought to the table again he's 29 and in four years he will be ancient by next world cup in soccer time. Donovan over the next four years will lose four years off that pace. But then theres the chance that next time we don't make the same mistakes we did. Maybe we won't lose the next Nevin Subotic or Gieuseppi Rossi. Maybe Jozy and dare I say it Freddy Adu will mature into world class strikers by next world cup. Maybe Micheal Bradley will be the best CM in the world by then.

You can always hope

I just cant wait for USA WORLD CUP 2014

What I learned

was that for the US to be competitve in the World Cup they need to STOP allowing early goals. I can honestly say I wasn’t surprised when Ghana scored in the 5th minute.

Unfortunately, neither was I.

I’ve come to expect the early goal after the last 5 or 6 matches the team has played… even before the WC. The only real question was whether it would be before the 5 minute mark or before the 10 minute mark. I lost the bet this time. (I took 10’.)

Your Right

It was almost like in Major League where the young catcher couldnt throw the ball back to the pitcher. Really seemed unnecassary. It was bad voodoo

"I believe that basketball, when a certain level of unselfish team play is realized, can serve as a kind of metaphor for ultimate cooperation. It is a sport where success, as symbolized by the championship, requires that the dictates of the community prevail over selfish personal impulses. An exceptional player is simply one point on a five-pointed star. Statistics—such as points, rebounds, or assists per game—can never explain the remarkable interaction that takes place on a successful pro team."

LD will be 31

He will be fine, not the same but he will still be our best player (most likely). He isn’t just a really good american but he is very compared to players around the world. Hell if Carlos B played all the games and minuted at 32 LD can do it at 31. This guy will be a star though :

i'd love to believe you

and even with all the posts on this blog mentioning that he doesn’t rely on athleticism to be successful, it’s hard to imagine a striker being a “star” at 33

Demerit can still play in 2014

33 is not THAT old for center backs. It’s right around the back end of a center backs prime. He’ll be selected if he stays healthy.

the coach or the player???

at the current wc, only two teams had a coach from the previous wc. Not to say Bradley wont be back, I think he did fine just the odds are against him.

The player will be the next american star in 2014. His stock rose in this wc, maybe just as much as donavan. If he can continue to progress and move to a big time club, he can surpass claudio reyna. when Bradley played well, we played well.
