Marvell Wynne makes trouble: my MLS Team of the Week
Two topics to cover this week:
1) Cheating
2) Good performance on losing teams
As for the cheating, Marvell Wynne played as a right back for
By the way, I am finding Wynne to be a perplexing figure.
He wasn’t great last year as a right back in
Wynne also illustrates my other head-scratcher today: how often should I include a player from a losing team on the weekly list? My thought is that it’s a sliding scale. If your team loses, you have to be extra good to deserve inclusion. (Or, be pretty good on a light weekend, if I’m being very honest.) Fact is,
Here’s the team. It’s from my Weekly “Five Things to Know” at SI.com. This week’s topics there include the importance of depth in MLS, Thierry Henry’s pair of performances, potential coaching upheaval and more.
Goalkeeper: Dan Kennedy (Chivas
Defenders: Heath Pearce (FC Dallas),
Midfielders: Ned Grabavoy (
Forwards: Maicon Santos (

Wynne was money last night.
Cummings instantly shut down the enthusiasm we had after Zakuani’s first goal. I was like getting your heart ripped out.

SI material
Is there any chance you could link to your SI stuff? And if you feel weird about self-advertising all the time, could you post a link to the sidebar or something? Call me lazy.

my bad
i usually try to do that. i get a mulligan for being on vacation last week. a lot of times, i post here hours before the SI pieces go through the editing process, so I have to circle back and link once the post is up … hence the delay. a pretty sorry excuse, I know, but my excuses generally improve through the week. monday’s are just a b—ch all the way around!
