Finishing up in Los Angeles after Sunday's MLS Cup final
Congrats to the Los Angeles Galaxy for claiming MLS Cup glory last night.
What I particularly like about Sunday's soggy outcome is this: For now, at least, we can put away a lot of arguments about how Major League Soccer works. As I said in our SI.com live chat last night:
LA Galaxy was the best team in Major League Soccer wire to wire. So, for now, we can put away all the arguments over playoffs, single table, Supporters Shield as "real" champion and all that other silliness. This year, it all worked. The Galaxy is a deserving champion.
I'll have more later. Right now, I'm off to battle LA traffic (grrrr!) en route to LAX and a flight home.
For now, here's my sidebar from SI.com, asking whether a DP-powered win might tip the balance of how clubs approach player personnel choices.

A nice side effect of playoffs. . .
. . . is that they really make the teams that win the Shield/Cup double stand out. 20 years from now, when we’re debating the greatest teams in league history, that list is probably where we’ll start.
'Gentlemen' he said,
'I don't need your organization,
I've shined your shoes,
moved your mountains and marked your cards,
but Eden is burning.
Either get ready for elimination,
or else your heart must have the courage,
for the changing of the guards.'
I just hope this is a wake up call to the cheapskate owners
Wolff, Kraft, Chang etc. need to wake the heck up and get their acts together.
Win or lose, we'll always be there for you.

Somebody needs to just go buy out Kraft
NE Revs seem like they’re only around for a tax deduction or something, or to get a few extra bucks in stadium use during offseason.
