Around SBN: Bob Sapp Denies Throwing Fights

Bob Bradley has been relieved of his duties as USMNT coach. Who'll replace him after a disappointing Gold Cup? That'll be the question on everybody's lips soon enough.

Wow. Just. Wow.

Gulati BETTER already have a world class coach in place ready to take over or this was a BIG mistake.

Bob has never been an amazing coach, but a great coach non the less. In my humble opinion, the problem has never been him, it has been player development problem that will take generations to fix. Can anyone honestly tell me that another coach could have done better against Mexico with the players we have available? Or for that matter, made it past the Ghana in the World Cup?

Why does it have to be a World Class Coach?

They’ve never had a world class coach, they just need a better coach, which honestly shouldn’t really be that hard to find as long as they’re willing to spend and relinquish some control. These are things you need to do if you want to compete with the rest of the world, which is the only thing that matters, we shouldn’t be competing with just CONCACAF, but the entire world.

FINALLY Bradley's gone!

Sure, the US could have beaten Mexico with a better coach who was in tune with his players. Bradley ran out of ideas after the Confed Cup in 09. Time for some new blood.

Yes, the player development program is, or was a mess and that’s hurt the team. However Bob Bradley should have had some influence over player development and should have seen the decline coming. The head coach can always talk to the poo-bahs at Chicago House about long term development. But he did and said nothing.

I'm not so sure...

My understanding was the Klinsman was offered the job and turned it down because the poo-bahs would not let him have control over the developement system or final say on call-ups.

As a fan of the University of Alabama college football team I really, really hope Gulati does what Alabam did and hire the biggest fish out there and give him total control over the program. No suits looking over his shoulder, no one else to answer to, and no excuses for failing.

Long over due

Bradley seems like a nice guy, but this team underperformed in the World Cup and the last Gold Cup. I have never been confident of the USMT, I am hoping a new coach (hopefully Klinsmann) will give them some type of style and identity. Right now they just look like they’re playing a pickup game and only adjusting to their opponents, never forcing their opponents to adjust.
